NorthWestern Energy is conducting an active public outreach program with the public, various federal, state and local governmental agencies, local property owners and other interested parties. Eleven public meetings were held in the last half of 2007 and first quarter of 2008, and project leaders met with the county commissions in 15 counties in Montana and Idaho. Additional meetings will be held with county commissions in June and July 2008.
The following will be ongoing opportunities to review the project alternatives and comment on the process:
- Project information is posted on the Internet at www.msti500kv.com, and comments may be emailed.
- A toll-free telephone line has been set up to receive comments and to disseminate information.
- Newsletters will be mailed periodically to keep the public and agencies informed.
- Public scoping meetings will held early in the EIS process to determine the issues to be addressed in the EIS.
- The Draft EIS will be available for public review and comment.
